Above is a quick turn around comp for Toyota Corolla. It’s really hard to explain our vision of functionality through words, while making an anamatic is out of the question. I personality believe more comp is needed to support our intense vision, and this comp is just a draft example of mood and feel and I can continue refine more usability of the site after that is locked in. but…

Above are works in progress for Toyota Corolla, just some simple ideas in my head that relates to the color, mood, and feel of the site. Personally, I like the second one more, because the composition gave depth and everything feels like one piece.

post Old Navy – Pattern Play

Old Navy launched the March collection called, Pattern Play. This is the 15 second online pre-roll I did for them.  I kept the look and feel the same as their March advertisements, and their newly launched webisode site done by us.

You can check out the site here.

This version involved a lot of cuts and basic video transition effects. I kept the overall 3D image placement and added 3D lights and shadows.

post Quick Design Reel

February 11th, 2008

Thursday the 7th, we had our TBG State of the Buddies 2008. I had to put together a quick 1 minute reel of some of our moGraph and design highlights for 2007. Funny thing is, 98.5% of them are all my projects. It’s like making a rough cut of my own reel. I only had 6 hours to work on this, and ran out of time at the end. I reversed the video and broke it up with SciFi branding. The dude at the end is my Art Director, Ron Ravelo. This piece was shown internally for our creative part of presentation.

This is a continuation from the last campaign. With the experience from before, this run only took a day to do. I eliminated the 3D textures, I found it unnecessary, the only purpose it served before was to add depth when the camera trucks out. I think the environment air fuzzicles took care of that illusion. By using RE:VisionFX ReelSmart Motion Blur, I also cut the render time in half.  But this time I added DOF for a more realistic feel of the overall piece.

post Old Navy – Sneak Peek

A video sneak peek to Old Navy Pre-Spring season clothing ad on CW.com Gossip Girls, client gave us a series of photographs and we were to make a 15 seconds video. I kept the intro logo transition modernized-retro, and the elegant parallax layers for the interior photographs. The added textures, lighting, and environment particles successfully convey the 3D illusion. The rendering time for this project took up most of the timeline. LOL! We really need a render farm at work, using my Dell workstation without Gridiron Nucleo Pro for over night rendering is just a huge headache.

whyhighlander site comp

Above are the Comps for Toyota whyhighlander.com. It consist 95% video components with a site buddy. We ran into a few major issues with how heavy the site will be, as there are six 1000 x 500 two minutes plus each, video sections. The client is a pleasure to work with, there is definitely a huge difference between a creative experienced client vs a business oriented client.  I kept the site simple and elegant, as client requested, also for the demographic of the majority viewers.

motoq

Above is the final storyboard for Motorola Q’s demo DVD. It is a training DVD retails give out to customers for easier and better learning. We ran into a few issues of DVD authoring which would unable the DVD to be compatible with DVD player and DVD-ROM, while embedding links to print PDF documents directly from the DVD. I ended up embedding a Video_TS and Flash version on the same disc along with an autorun document, since the DVD is PC only. The project is done with venetian blind transition effect, 3D stroke, and Particular.

isobot

Isobot is Tomy Toys’s new intelligent Xmas toy this year.  We were asked to design the pre-launch press DVD kit. Above is the final title storyboard.  I wish I could do more, but with a 3 day tight deadline, I am satisfied with the result. To keep the title simple yet eye catching, we ended up utilizing the most basic After Effect’s DOF, simple 3D space camera movement, and subtle particular “fuzzicles.”

wicked comp

Wicked has asked us to redesign their US website, the target audience would varied from the young fanatics to the older web browsing challenged group. I have given the design a complicated and heavy texture with a simple prominent navigation. I kept a consistent Victorian/Theater/Harry Potter look throughout the whole site. The client asked us to keep the darkness of the whole show but emphasize the beautiful friendship between the two witches. To keep the overall asymmetric feel of the show, I came up with the above final comps. Which is approved and will be live by OCT. 31st.
